Modelling of Rotating Permanent Magnet Induced Liquid Metal Stirring
In this work, we investigate numerically liquid metal stirring induced by rotating permanent magnets. We investigate the characteristic velocity dependence on the permanent magnet rotation rate and compare it to data from neutron radiography experiments. In addition to several recognized imperfections in the experimental results, we further improve the numerical model, investigating numerically the impact of using transient instead of time-averaged force.
